Background Research

The research gives an insight into cultural volunteering in numerous European countries, looking at background information (legislative context, organisational models, volunteering infrastructure) and analysing case studies.  It has produced a quite significant and detailed report, the outcomes of which represent the building blocks of other activities within the project, as far as the training courses, the disseminations events and the final publication (Guidelines) are concerned.

Training course in Italy
On 10 March 2009 and on 7 April 2009 has been held in Bologna, at the Auditorium of the Emilia-Romagna Region in Viale Aldo Moro 18, the training course “Patrimonio culturale e volontariato: strategie ed esperienze a confronto”.
The course – which is the third training initiative realized within VoCH after the Austrian and Slovenian pilot courses – has put together representatives of political, cultural and social institutions and addresses themes such as the historical evolution of volunteering in Italy; the legislative framework; the funding strategies; the general management of volunteering activities (recruiting, training and communicating).
Each day of the course provided participants with theoretical contributions in the mornings and with national and international practical experiences in the afternoons, in order to establish a strong and clear link between principles and practices.
The course – which has been addressed mainly to professionals working in the cultural field and wishing to confront themselves with issues related to the role and functions of volunteers within their organisations – has been divided into two non consecutive days in order to allow the greatest number of  people to participate.
