  Created in 1982, the Regional Council is still a young local authority. Expression of a devolution of the government towards institutions closer to the field realities, it exerts competences in many fields of our everyday life:

  • town and country planning and urban/regional transport
  • quality of life and culture.
  The regional Council devotes about half of its budget to the initial and continuous training. Its priorities: the quality of life and work in the colleges public and deprived, the development of the higher education on all the territory, the access of all to a formation qualifying in response to the needs for the economy
• Académie de Rennes Le Rectorat représente en Bretagne le Ministère de l'éducation nationale. Il doit veiller à l'exécution de ses décisions ainsi qu'à la mise en oeuvre de toutes les dispositions législatives et réglementaires relatives à l'enseignement. Il est consulté par les collectivités territoriales et participe à la mise au point des programmes prévisionnels des investissements (arrêtés, pour les collèges, par le département et pour les lycées, par la région), qui définissent la localisation des établissements, leur capacité d'accueil et le mode d'hébergement des élèves.
  The local education authority represents in Brittany the Ministry for education. It must take care of the execution of its decisions like with the implementation of all the legislative and lawful provisions relating to teaching.It is consulted by the other local authorities and takes part in the development of the forward programmes of the investments which define the localization of the establishments, their capacity of reception and the mode of lodging of the pupils.
