JUDAICA Europeana - Apprendere in Biblioteca: la Società dell'Informazione contro la Discriminazione e l'Emarginazione
Abstract:

JUDAICA Europeana is one of a series of initiatives supported by the European Commission to establish EUROPEANA, the European digital library. Europeana draws on rich content from libraries, archives and museums and will be launched in summer 2010. 
 JUDAICA Europeana will identify and digitize Jewish content for Europeana with a projected contribution of several million pages and thousands of other items.

The project’s main goals are:

  1. Documentation of Jewish expression in Europe
  2. Digitisation and aggregation of this content into a coherent thematic collection to be incorporated into Europeana.
  3. Deployment of knowledge management tools
  4. Support the use of the digitised content
Partners: The Consortium of Judaica Europeana partners is led by the European Association for Jewish Culture in London (UK)and the Judaica Collection of the Goethe University Library in Frankfurt/Main (D).  Project partners include the Alliance Israélite Universelle in cooperation with Paris Yiddish Centre (F), Medem Library (IL),  The British Library (UK), Hungarian Jewish Archives of Budapest (HU), Jewish Museum of Greece (GR), Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage (Italy), Jewish Historical Institute in Warsaw (PL), Jewish Museum London (UK) and Amitié (IT). The Central Zionist Archive (IL) and Makash (Centre for ICT applications in education, culture and science, Jerusalem IL) are associate partners. More associate partners will be invited to join.
